Tonight on Political Analysis, host Sandy LeonVest reports on India's massive power outages and looming water crisis. She also brings us up to speed on Shell's Arctic drilling plans, running clips from activist, artist and author Subhankar Banerjee, who talks about Shell's history of environmental devastation and lack of accountability in Nigeria, Siberia and elsewhere, as the company prepares to begin a massive oil drilling expedition in the Arctic's Chukchi and Beaufort Seas.
Later in the hour, activist Akilah Sanders-Reed and attorney Tanya Sanerib join SLV to talk about what's known as the Atmospheric Trust Litigation (ATL), a lawsuit filed against the US government by a group of young climate activists. This remarkable litigation campaign, which consists of lawsuits filed in all fifty state courts and in federal court on the same day, seeks to force the US government to apply the venerable public trust doctrine to the atmosphere and protect it for future generations.
